For this year’s Gods Work Our Hands project, we decided to put together backpacks filled with school supplies on Rally Day ~ Sunday, September 13th.
During the summer, the Gelchie girls put together a presentation board with “apples” that showed what supplies were needed (notebooks, pens / pencils, crayons, etc.). We collected many supplies (and cash donations) during July and August from CLC and Holy Cross.
So on Rally Day (Sept 13th), the Sunday school kids and our congregation collated 50 backpacks! We received more cash donations on Sept 13th (thank you!). The Gelchie family made an additional donation for the outstanding supplies . . . and
through all of our efforts, we shipped 84 backpacks!!!
Special thanks goes to:
- Holy Cross for all the school supplies!
- Joan Lundquist for sharing this idea, working on the Thrivent Grant and your donation.
- Deanne & Jim Emory for taking care of the shipping of the backpacks
- Gina & Christina Gelchie and their friends for helping put together the “apples” board and stuffing the backpacks.
It warms my heart to know that our congregation cares so much about others. Great cause, big fun. I am blessed to be a member of CLC!
