7th and 8th Grade confirmation students excelled in their first test on the Ten Commandments on November 3. Their next test—on the Apostle’s Creed—follows on December 8. After that we begin our unit on the Lord’s Prayer, which will conclude farther down the line with a test on March 9.
We encourage students to continue sermon notes, homework, worship participation, and service hours. Parents, feel free to check in with the confirmation staff on your child’s progress. The confirmation homework is an excellent opportunity for parents to have guided faith conversations with their kids, using unintimidating language to talk about God together.
Our ongoing thanks to all parents who prepare meals for all our confirmation participants. Your work allows our students to eat one meal each week with their church family—a rare practice for kids of any age.
First Holy Communion
Again this spring, we will be offering First Communion classes to all those interested in receiving God’s grace and forgiveness in the body and blood of Jesus. Each student must be attending Sunday School and have a desire to participate. The classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:15pm. The classes begin March 11 and go to April 1. The celebration of First Holy Communion will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the 9:15am service. If your child is interested, please call the church office to reserve your spot. Please know that all are welcome.
